Any views or opinions represented or expressed in this interview belong solely to the interviewee and do not neccessarily represent those of the PGConf.EU 2022 organization, PostgreSQL Europe, or the wider PostgreSQL community, unless explicitly stated.
- Which of your company’s contributions to the PostgreSQL Project (code/community/conference) are you most proud of?
-
Community support is at our core. Our DBA are encouraged and regularly contribute to PostgreSQL development, we openly share PostgreSQL utilities developed by our DBA, give talks and run workshops at community events to share our experience and knowledge.
We are proud to be listed among PostgreSQL major sponsors and support the organisation of community events like PGconf.EU and local PGDays, have representation on Postgres Europe board, PGUS User Group Committee and Funds Group.
- What is your PostgreSQL-centred product?
-
We are a boutique consultancy, focusing on providing remote administration database support to companies working with PostgreSQL or looking to migrate.
There are no two businesses alike, each has its own business needs, technological stack and database requirements. We have a team of experienced PostgreSQL DBA that gained their experience working with a multitude of businesses and across industries and seen it all.
- Which PostgreSQL extension do you benefit from most, and why?
-
We use
pg_stat_statements
with all our clients’ databases. It allows us to target those queries that need to be optimised for better database performance. In addition, we now frequently use the new addition to our own toolkit - pg_index_watch.
It utilizes the relation between index size and
pg_class.reltuples
(that is kept up-to-date through autovacuum) to determine the extent of index bloat relative to the ideal situation of the newly built index. - Why does your company attend PostgreSQL Conference Europe?
-
PGconf.EU is the biggest European PostgreSQL event and a must attend event for any European business working with Postgres.
As a business that strives to promote the use of PostgreSQL we see this as an opportunity to further grow the community and strengthen European PostgreSQL connections among its users.
