Interview with DALIBO
Any views or opinions represented or expressed in this interview belong solely to the interviewee and do not neccessarily represent those of the PGConf.EU 2022 organization, PostgreSQL Europe, or the wider PostgreSQL community, unless explicitly stated.
- In which areas do you expect PostgreSQL to grow most and how does your company contribute to and benefit from that growth?
PostgreSQL is now the default database for most of our clients. The number of instances deployed is on the rise everywhere. The living challenge of DBA teams is to grow their fleet of Postgres instances in a harmonious way while taking advantage of the dynamic of the PostgreSQL community.
- What is your company’s mission?
Our goal is to provide a framework of tools that are flexible, interoperable, reliable and open source. We help users to reach higher levels of automation, hybrid cloud strategies, independance and agilty with PostgreSQL.
- What is your PostgreSQL centered product?
Our main product is a PostgreSQL Advanced Platform based on an open source management tool named "pglift", which allows users to deploy and maintain their Postgres instances in various ways (CLI, Ansible, K8s, etc.).
- Which of your company’s contributions to the PostgreSQL Project (code/community/conference) are you most proud of?
We are especially proud of our Dalibo Labs. It gathers the open source projects we are currently working on, such as PEV2, PostgreSQL Anonymizer, temBoard and ldap2pg.
Once they grow and find their own community, we usually transfer the ownership to independant groups of developers.
- What makes your company a great place to work?
We are a cooperative business. That means that Dalibo’s capital is fully owned by the workers, who share the benefits and decide together which strategy to follow. Our decision process is democratic and we constantly try to make it better.
Besides, we are autonomous and live a pretty comfortable life thanks to our 100% remote organisation.
